Wednesday May 21, 2008: Student Film Night Our May 2008 film program is devoted to local student film makers. We will present films by high school and college students from Colorado, including the winning films from the 2008 Colorado Student Film Competition.

Wednesday April 16, 2008: Fast Filmmaking To kick off our 2008 film series, award winning director Marianne Leviton will discuss how creative people from all walks of life make their own short films using video cameras and computers. Several participants in the Boulder Fast Filmmaking Incubator will present their short documentaries, comedies, and dramas, and explain how they got started making movies.

Amy Hendrickson will perform some original music, and discuss her experiences with incorporating music into film. Being Green Abundance” by Jen Casson - 4 minutes - Casson presents an episode of her video series about a local farm in Lafayette that grows organic produce. Jen will discuss video podcasting on the internet as an outlet for beginning filmmakers.
Mike in the Shot by Todd Bradley - 4 minutes - Bad soap opera meets The Muppets in this farce about the least respected guy on the set of a TV show
Grandpa's Still in the Tuff Shed by Robin Beeck - 70 minutes - This light hearted documentary examines the phenomenon of the famed “frozen dead guy” whose body is kept in a Tuff Shed in Nederland, Colorado. Robin will be present to discuss the dead guy, the Tuff Shed, and why they made a movie about it

Pieces of a Memory (4 minutes, Alan August) - This experimental short film explores the ephemerality of human memory. Beautifully shot in black-and-white with no dialog.
La Quinceañera (41 minutes, Adam Taub) - Taub's documentary follows Mexican girl and her family as they prepare to celebrate her 15th birthday. This is a very intimate look inside the centuries-old coming of age ceremony. Filmed in Spanish, presented with English& subtitles.
Stand Up Guy (38 minutes, Jim Brennan) - A death in the family prompts a variety of changes in the life of a young man, including a deeper examination of his father and himself. NOTE: Due to language and violence, this film may not be suitable for young children

Flat Dog Dreams - Michael Starks - 39 minutes - This dramatic comedy follows a graffiti artist and the quirky patrons of the Flat Dog Diner as they discover the meaning of family
Fall In Line - Andy Musser - 4 minutes - A beautifully rendered and politically charged animated film about the importance of standing up for what’s right
Loaded - Joe and Robert LaRue - 4 minutes - Comedy about a magician preparing to go onstage for what may be his final performance

Sand Creek Massacre by Don Visicek (20 min) One of the darkest episodes in Colorado history, including modern perspectives from victims' families. A Change in Plans by Patrick Sheridan (6 min) Things take a turn for the worse for a group of bank robbers who get greedy after the heist
Secret Lives of Shopping Carts by Michael Mathews (7 min) And you thought shopping carts were inanimate objects.
